Corpus Christi and salt carpets

The hallmark of Corpus Christi in Lanzarote is its salt carpets: neighbours, associations and schools dye salt in bright colours and lay large, short-lived tapestries along the streets the procession will follow, above all in Arrecife and Haría. It is a participatory, strikingly visual popular tradition. The date changes each year depending on Easter.
