The municipal carnival fills the Plaza de la Constitución and the old-town streets with a parade, murga and troupe gatherings, batucada drumming, a costume gala, a seniors' carnival, the piñata dance and open-air parties. Each edition revolves around a different theme. The dates move with the Lenten calendar.
