Feast of the Virgen del Carmen (La Santa)

Festival of the coastal fishing village of La Santa in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, patron of fishermen. Its most emblematic act is the sea procession: the statue is placed on a decorated boat and carried along the coast, escorted by dozens of vessels, an honour that each year falls to a family of seafaring tradition. Religious devotion is paired with a land procession, gatherings of folk groups, Canarian wrestling, open-air dances, sport, theatre and children's activities across a fortnight of festivities.
