Virgen del Carmen Sea Festival (Playa Blanca)

A seafaring festival in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, patron of fishermen, deeply rooted in the fishing town of Playa Blanca. On the central day, 16 July, the solemn Mass and the procession of the image through the streets are accompanied by the Municipal Band and the harbour's fishermen, followed by the traditional sea procession: a flotilla of decorated boats escorts the Virgin along the southern coast, blessing the waters. The programme also includes open-air dances, water activities and events run together with the Fishermen's Guild.
