San Antonio de Padua Festival (Tías)

The great summer patron-saint festival of Tías town in honour of Saint Anthony of Padua, one of the community's most beloved saints. On the main day, 13 June, there is a solemn mass and a procession of the image along Avenida Central, accompanied by bands and folk groups, with the tradition of handing out bread and chocolate made by local residents. The programme usually includes the El Pavón popular-music gathering, a food fair, the TiritiTías performing-arts festival, the 'battle of polkas', open-air dances and cultural and sporting activities.
