San Ginés Festival (Arrecife's Patron Saint)

Arrecife's main celebration honours San Ginés de Clermont, the city's patron saint. On the big day, 25 August, a solemn Mass and the patron's procession wind through the old harbour quarter beside the Charco de San Ginés lagoon. For almost two weeks the programme blends religious acts with tradition and culture: a country folk festival, a gathering of habanera and sea music, folklore, open-air dances (verbenas), a funfair, sporting events and fireworks. The festivities are declared of National Tourist Interest.
