Fiestas de San Roque

Patronal festival of the town of Tinajo in honour of San Roque. The main day, 16 August, features a solemn Mass, a procession with the Tinajo Municipal Band and a folk offering, followed by a lively street party. It is one of the festivals that best preserves the island's farming heritage: the highlight is the Harvest Pilgrimage, with decorated carts and traditional grape-treading in improvised presses, recalling Tinajo's ties to its vineyards and Malvasía wine. The programme blends folk music and parrandas, Canarian wrestling, bowls, sport, children's activities and open-air dances.
