The patron-saint festival of the fishing village of Arrieta honours Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patron of fishermen. Its signature moment is the sea procession: the statue is carried aboard a boat and sails along the coast, escorted by a flotilla of decorated vessels. The week also brings Mass and procession, open-air dances, children's and sports activities, food contests, Canarian wrestling, playback shows and outdoor cinema.
