Guadalupe is the patroness of the old town and titular of its parish church, the oldest on Lanzarote (15th century). Her feast, around September 8, is marked chiefly with religious ceremonies. It is worth noting that the town's big popular summer fiesta now centres on Carmen (July), while the patronage and parish titular belong to Guadalupe.
